SIHL LAUNCHES NEW VARIANT OF ZM1 FOR CHEMICAL RESISTANT LABELS IN LARGER SIZES

Last year, Sihl introduced PICOFILM WO-80 matt ZM1 (8002), a new product in the FACESTOCK label segment. Following its successful market launch, there is now another variant of the grade that is particularly suitable for labels in larger sizes: PICOFILM WO-110 matt ZM1 (8003).

The ZM1 coating is a matt, highly resistant coating for water-based inkjet printing. It is resistant to a wide range of chemicals and at the same time produces a high-quality print image. This makes the products suitable for many demanding label applications, for example in the home & personal care sector, pharmaceutical applications or in the oil and chemical industry.

The new PICOFILM WO-110 matt ZM1 (8003) variant is a FACESTOCK BOPP film, matt coated on the front for variable information printing (V.I.P.) with water-based inkjet and topcoated on the reverse for increased adhesive anchoring. Thanks to its thickness of 115 μm, it is suitable for large-format labels (A4 and larger), as it is particularly robust and tear-resistant. These properties make the new ZM1 grade the ideal choice for very demanding and heavy-duty applications, for example when labelling hazardous substances in drums and other containers. The stability of the product enables labelling even when wearing safety gloves.

End customers receive a quick-drying, easy-to-use product with high colour brilliance, sharp-edged prints and very good weather resistance. It is characterised in particular by high abrasion and water resistance as well as chemical resistance.

BS5609 Section 3 certification

When transporting goods by sea, long distances have to be covered, often in extreme weather conditions. Labels are used to reliably label goods of all classes, such as hazardous substances or toxic chemicals, in accordance with GHS. The approval of the ZM1 coating on the Epson C6500 and C4000 (pending) printers in accordance with the globally recognised BS5609 Section 3 standard guarantees reliable, resistant labelling for such applications.
